A really interesting read on the feedback to the call for evidence by the Department for Education on AI and Education, held over the summer. (Link to report here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/65609be50c7ec8000d95bddd…)
Useful insights on the opportunities educators anticipate AI creating, in terms of freeing up teacher time and allowing targeted support, as well as some interesting examples of subject specific support.
The evidence summarises the feedback that educators are optimistic in the main about how GenAI can support (the report notes that in the main the respondents are early adopters), but are also looking for support on how the technology can be safely adopted and scaled.
Some of the themes in the feedback mirror questions raised by a recent policy paper by the Conservative Policy Forum on AI too, including the need to ensure technology infrastructure, such as highspeed broadband and WiFi capability, as well as ensuring security and safety are prioritised. Using technology in schools is a passion of mine and I cannot wait to see how this sector develops.
