It was fantastic to be in Manchester, for Conservative Party conference and see so many colleagues from around the country, especially from within our Conservative Women's network.
Given my passion for education and skills development, it was a pleasure to chair a discussion on the Future of Work. We had a true panel of experts to discuss our topic:
- Paul Scully MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy
- Mims Davies MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Social Mobility, Youth and Progression,
- Secretary of State for Education, Gillian Keegan MP,
- Chairman of the CWO and Senior HR Consultant, Pamela Hall OBE
- Business founder and leader, Ali Griffiths.
The topics were wide-ranging, covering how we think work will change, how we train and re-skill, as well as the opportunities for education. It is clear that there are many opportunities for work, as we evolve not only our working practices but as new industries open up. But it is vital that we take people with us, providing hubs and direction on how to upskill and retrain.
